I don’t often buy store-bought cookies, but when I do, it’s almost always Chips Ahoy. For years, my favorite was Chips Ahoy Original Chocolate Chip Cookies, which are the crunchy cookies in the blue package. More recently, however, I have developed a newfound love for the red variety. The cookies are soft, chewy, and taste like they came straight from the oven.
Over the years, the brand has managed to develop a surprising number of flavor options. You can enjoy Chips Ahoy’s chewy cookies stuffed with fudge, filled with an ice cream sandwich-inspired spread, or loaded with chunks of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, just to name a few.
Recently, we spotted a new Chips Ahoy limited-edition treat in stores, and if you’re a fan of the warm, spiced taste of cookie butter, you won’t want to miss this.
Chips Ahoy Introduces Cookie Butter Inspired Cookies
Chips Ahoy Cookie Butter Inspired Cookies are popping up on shelves just in time for the holiday season. For those unfamiliar, cookie butter is often made from speculoos cookies, which have a bold cinnamon and brown sugar taste. To create the spread, the cookies are finely ground, then mixed with sweeteners and oil to create a spreadable version you can scoop up with fruit and use in desserts.
Chips Ahoy’s new cookie draws inspiration from the popular spread and features a gooey, caramel-like filling with similar flavors. In addition, the cookies are loaded with white fudge chips, which add a creamy taste to every bite. You can enjoy these straight from the package or warm them in the microwave briefly for an extra-melty center.
On Instagram, food reviewer @markie_devo shared a photo of the new treat, and fans raced to the comments section to share their excitement. “Oh, yes, please! These sound so incredible,” wrote one user. “Omg, need to try. I love cookie butter,” said another.
Chips Ahoy isn’t the only brand getting in on the cookie butter trend this year. Last month, Chobani launched Cookie Butter Creamer. Soon after, Nothing Bundt Cakes introduced the Biscoff Cookie Butter Cake, which was hands down my favorite bundtlet flavor to date.
Chips Ahoy’s new cookie butter-inspired flavor has been spotted at Walmart, so be sure to look for it on your next grocery run. And cookie butter lovers, don’t forget to check out our roundup of desserts that start with a scoop of the delicious, cookie-filled spread.
