There’s something about cooking in an enameled cast iron Dutch oven that sort of makes us feel like we’re on set, cooking pasta with Ina or soup with Stanley. A stainless steel Dutch oven, while similarly functional, just doesn’t have the same vibe.
But, that cooking show-worthy cookware vibe can often come with a price tag that only a celebrity chef can afford. The iconic Le Creuset Dutch oven, even when on sale, can cost hundreds of dollars. Sure, there are advantages to the coveted brand, such as a limited lifetime warranty, but it’s still out of financial reach for many home cooks. Fortunately, there are plenty of other brands of Dutch ovens that work well and look strikingly similar to Le Creuset.
Recently, Aldi offered its own version of an enamel cast iron Dutch oven for $30, and shoppers scooped it up. Now, Costco is selling a set of not one, but two Le Creuset look-alikes for just $70.
Costco Has a New $70 Tramontina Dutch Oven Set
On Instagram, user @costcohotfinds shared the two-pack of Tramontina Dutch ovens, which just arrived in Costco stores. In the past, Costco offered a set of Tramontina Dutch ovens, one 3.5-quart and one 5.5-quart, for $60. The new set offers slightly larger enameled cast iron pots, a 4-quart and a 6-quart, for just $10 more. And this time, the set is available in a creamy white and a gorgeous ombré green that reminds us of the Le Creuset shade, Thyme.
“I love the green AND the white, I can’t decide which I love more,” wrote one commenter on the Instagram post. “These Dutch ovens are amazing. My favorite color is the green. Heavy, durable and will last a very long time,” raved another commenter.
If you had any doubts this cookware is as sturdy as it is beautiful, other fans of the brand, Tramontina, were quick to chime in in the comments. “I have the blue and they have lasted and work so well! Definitely recommend,” assured one commenter. “Tramontina is a Brazilian company and I bought a stainless pot/pan set years ago and they’re fantastic!” wrote another. Over the summer, Costco stocked an enameled cast iron skillet from Tramontina that had fans flocking to their nearest warehouse.
Oven-safe up to 450 degrees F, these pots are so versatile. They’re great for soups, stews, baking bread, chili, overnight breakfast casseroles, and more. And, at $70, they’re a total steal. To put that into perspective, two similarly sized Dutch ovens from Le Creuset would total over $835, meaning the Tramontina set is a fraction of the price, and costs a whopping 92 percent less.
So if you’ve been looking to get a jump on holiday shopping, there’s never been a better time to plan a Costco run. Just be sure to plan it soon, as these cookware sets are selling out fast.
